Glenn Maxwell has been recalled to the Australian ODI squad as a cover for Aaron Finch who was ruled out of the upcoming fourth game of the ongoing series against England due to a minor hamstring injury.

Maxwell, originally ignored for the ODIs series owing to inconsistent form at the international level in limited-overs cricket, will join the squad in Adelaide on Thursday night, ahead of the Australia Day game on Friday (January 26). However, it seems unlikely that the 29-year-old will get a chance to play, being flown in as a cover only.

Meanwhile, Finch is set to undergo a reassessment ahead of the fifth and final ODI in Perth on Sunday, before a decision is taken on his availability.

England have already secured the series 3-0 with two games left to play. The ODI series will be followed by a tri-nation T20I series, also involving New Zealand.
