Shikhar Dhawan came up with a career-best performance on Wednesday to help India claim the 3-match series over West Indies with a 5-wicket win at the Green Park in Kanpur. Dhawan smashed 119 from 95 balls to set up India's chase of West Indies' 263/5.

Dhawan started off his innings with a bang, scoring boundaries at will. He first attacked the West Indies pacers Ravi Rampaul and Jason Holder playing shots all around the wicket. Anything on the pads, would be hit firmly through the on-side, like this on-drive through mid-wicket. Dhawan is averaging 55.45 in a winning cause in ODIs - his aggregate being 1109 in 21 innings, including five hundreds and five fifties.

Dhawan at times mixed caution with aggression as his top-order partners Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were all cheaply. He used the pace of the bowlers well, to score boundaries square of the wicket on the off side. India have won all ODIs when Dhawan has scored fifty-plus innings.

When the spinner came on, he brought a bit of finesse to his game, using the crease well and the late cut to good effect. Dhawan's 73-ball century is his quickest in ODIs.

When given the chance, Dhawan went for the audacious pull against the likes of Rampaul, Holder and Darren Sammy. Invariably, his shots would go in the gap. Dhawan has posted six international centuries this year - the highest tally by any player this year. His feat of recording five ODIs hundreds is the most by any batsman in 2013.

The stylish left-hander was literally toying with the West Indian attack as he started to find the tiniest of gaps in the field. More so, through the extra cover region. Dhawan's stroke-play gave headaches to the fielding skipper Dwayne Bravo. Dhawan's 119 off 95 balls is his career-best score in ODIs, eclipsing the 116 off 127 balls vs Zimbabwe at Harare on July 26, 2013.
