Sam Billings scored a superb 93 as England spoiled MS Dhoni's last match as captain of an Indian team. England chasing 305 runs to win, pocketed the first warm-up match by three wickets.

The visitors were off to an excellent start as openers Jason Roy and Alex Hales added 95 runs for the opening wicket partnership.

With the ball coming nicely on to the bat, both Roy and Hales were severe on the India A bowlers as runs came thick and fast. While Roy made 62 off 57 balls, Hales contributed a useful 40 off 37 deliveries.

Young chinaman Kuldeep Yadav picked a five wicket-haul but Sam Billings played a gem of an innings to take the game away from the Indians.

Kuldeep applied brakes on the England batting as he dismissed both the openers quickly.

India then crawled back into the game with Shikhar Dhawan taking a spectacular catch off the bowling of Yuzvendra Chahal to dismiss Eoin Morgan.

However, Jos Buttler along with Billings kept the Indians at bay and kept the scorecard ticking.

Although Kuldeep dismissed Buttler and then Moeen Ali for a duck, Liam Dawson with a 41-run cameo played the foil to Billings.

Hardik Pandya denied Billings a century but England were well within the reach of target.

Earlier, Ambati Rayudu slammed a brilliant ton as India A posted a dominating 304 runs on board.

Although opener Mandeep Singh departed early, Rayudu along with Shikhar Dhawan rebuild the innings.

Dhawan roared back into form with a fine 63 and so as Yuvraj Singh with a fine 56.

Much to the crowd's delight, it was skipper MS Dhoni unleashed fireworks with a 40-ball 68. Dhoni smacked eight boundaries and two sixes to take the score past 300.

But, Billings and company gatecrashed Dhoni's party as the two time World Cup winning skipper ended his captaincy era with a loss.
